A “bucket list” is a collection of all the things one wants to do, see and experience in life before “kicking the bucket.” Auto mechanic Carter (Freeman) and billionaire Edward (Nicholson) find themselves sharing a hospital room with serious illnesses. Life delivers a wake-up call to them and against doctor’s orders and good sense they leave the hospital, hit the road and embark on the adventures of a lifetime—from the Taj Mahal to the Serengeti, the finest restaurants to the seediest tattoo parlors, the cockpit of vintage race cars to the open door of a prop plane. As they add and erase items off their list, while taking in the grandeur of the world, and grappling with the difficult questions of their lives and the even more difficult answers they become good friends in spite of the vast differences between them.
