In order not to be deported to her native Canada, high-powered executive Margaret (Bullock) declares that she’s engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (Roberts), an American citizen. He agrees reluctantly and with conditions. They travel to Alaska to meet his quirky family and the always-in-control Margaret finds herself a fish out of water in one difficult situation after another. With an immigration official on their tails they stick to their plan with unforeseen consequences.
