After the failure of his career, his marriage, and his suicide attempt, world-class grouch Boris Yellnikoff (David), spends his days insulting the children unlucky enough to study chess with him and annoying his still-loyal friends with his never-ending tirades about the worthlessness of everything. A former Columbia Professor and self-proclaimed genius who came close to winning the Nobel Prize for Quantum Physics, he fancies himself the only one who fully comprehends the meaninglessness of all human aspirations. Then he meets Melody (Wood) and his life takes a total turnaround. Written and directed by Woody Allen this comedy is typical Woody.
