The New York Botanical Gardens is a museum of plants, an educational institution, and a scientific research organization. Founded in 1891 and now a National Historic Landmark, it is one of the greatest botanical gardens in the world and the largest in any city in the United States, distinguished by the beauty of its diverse landscape and extensive collections and gardens, as well as by the scope and excellence of its programs in horticulture, education, and science.

The New York Botanical Gardens maintains one of the world's greatest collections of flora, including some of the most beautiful natural terrain of any botanical garden in the world; including dramatic rock outcroppings, rolling hills, waterfalls and ponds, the Bronx River and a 50 acre remnant of the forest that once covered New York City. While visiting the gardens, you will have the opportunity to enjoy viewing the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, 27 specialty gardens and plant collections on 250 acres. There will be a choice of a self-guided tour or a narrated public tram service.

After seeing the beautiful gardens, enjoy a delicious lunch at Mario's - winner of the James Beard Award for best regional classic restaurant - the only one selected in the New York City Area. Please choose from one of the lunch choices below.

Finally, to wrap up a wonderful day, spend some time on Arthur Avenue for authentic Italian goodies!

Lunch Choices:

  1. Chicken Francaise

  2. Veal Cutlet Parmagiana

  3. Filet of Sole in Scampi Sauce

Don't delay in signing up at the Reference Desk - space is limited and this is a trip that will fill rapidly.
