The University of Livingstonia in Malawi Africa is a new university which opened in 2003. They are in desperate need of college level textbooks and other learning materials. The university has schools of education, nursing and business. The university's head librarian, Augustine Msiska is accepting textbooks in all academic subjects, including sociology, biology literature history, teaching methodology and curriculum development. If anyone has textbooks that are no older than 15 years old and would like to donate them please contact the Gold Coast Public Library for information on how and who to send them to.

The presentation "Caring for your Aging Parent and Yourself" which was scheduled for Wednesday, April 16th has been canceled.

On Thursday, April 17, 2008 the Harbor Child Care Glen Head Center is inviting the public to get a free car seat safety check. The Nassau County Traffic Safety Bureau will be on hand to make sure that child car seats are properly installed and answer any questions parents may have concerning regulations on car seats.

The Long Island Talking Book Library in the Suffolk Cooperative Library System will be hosting an Assistive Technology and Resource Fair for people who are blind or visually impaired. The fair will cover such topics as reading machines, computers with voice, large print, braille as well as devices for daily living. This is a non governmental agency that regulates every U.S. securities firm. The database has over 660,000 and 5,100 securities firms. Go to www.finra.org for more information. The search is free and even complaints concerning stockbrokers can be filed through the FINRA website.

The New York State Archives announces its eighteenth annual Student Research Awards program to promote and recognixe excellence in student research. The main purpose of the awards program is to encourage students to explore the wealth of historical records in New York State. The program is a statewide competition open to all New York State students in grades 4-12. A total of three awards will be given that consists of a certificate and a cash prize. Entries must be postmarked no later than July 1, 2008
