Gold Coast added new Playaways to the Adult and YA collection and will be adding Playaways to the Children's collection within the next two weeks!

The Adult and YA Playaways will have their own rack for a couple of weeks near the travel section (it will have a lot of orange).

What are Playaways?

For anyone that hasn't tried Playaways but enjoys audio books on the go, these are a must! Perfect for travel and exercise, the compact players look like this:

Each Playaway comes with headphones and can also be used with a car adapter that allows the book to be played on your car stereo.

You can start, stop, fast forward and rewind. They are lightweight and easy to use, try one today!

To make everyone's life easier, we've moved the new YA books to a wire rack next to the YA computer.

We've also moved YA Playaways to the top of the series bookshelf.

Now for the fun stuff!!!

Iron Man is in on Blu-Ray

Gold Coast has ordered a few more in Blu-Ray such as The Departed, Dark Knight and Indiana Jones (these three are on order, so keep checking back).

Hi everyone,

Chris & i will be at the North Shore Middle School cafeteria on Wednesday November 19th! We will be there to hand out a survey and to get some input from you teens on what types of programming you'd like us to have here at your library. So stop by our booth from 11-1:30!

Who better to know what teens want than teens! Become a Gold Coast Teen Consultant and have your voice heard. Work directly with Chris & myself to help pick appropriate and fun programs for all teens to participate in. Also, suggest materials to be added to the collection! Have the library become your library, a place where you can go and be listened to and where your opinions matter! Enjoy a night of pizza and discussion-remember that we're here for you and will take your ideas seriously. You will also receive community service hours for your participation. We meet once a month. The State of New York Department of Education has a new literacy advice packet out. It's filled with interesting ideas, some reading lists and a few good links.

It is a .pdf file so make sure you have adobe installed.
