Adopt a Holocaust Survivor

Students are paired with a Holocaust Survivor, and will learn of the survivor's childhood, the war years and the time since liberation. This interaction provides an in-depth look into history that cannot be duplicated reading books.

Hi everyone,

Below is a listing of the teen programs for January!

Parents and teens please share this information with each other.

Thursday January 15th from 7-8:30-Reading for Results: Parents do you want to help your teens read better? Teens, do you want to make more meaningful connections to your favorite authors & characters? Take your reading comprehension to the next level under the direction of certified High School teacher Shane Sweeting.

Thursday January 22nd from 7-8:30-The first Teen Consultant Meeting! Our group will have its first meeting. It will be a night of getting to know each other and pizza will be provided. Remember, participants will receive community service hours for attending. Topics of discussion will include which materials you would like us to order, ways our library can improve the teen experience, book club ideas, which programs you would like us to offer, and anything else you would like to discuss. Our second meeting will be held on February 26th from 7-8:30. If you would like to attend please either send me an email @ goldcoast8300@yahoo.com, call, or stop by the reference desk on your next visit. We look forward to seeing you there!

Thursday January 29th from 7-8pm-Dandy Candy! Make some yummy candy under the guidance of MaryAnne Impostato.

Saturday January 31st from 2-4pm-Computer Animation. Learn the basics of computer Animation taught by a professional from Sharper Training Solutions.

Fed Tax Forms

The IRS has stopped granting accounts to libraries wishing to stock forms, as a result we will not have hard copies of any Federal Government forms. Feel free to use our public computers to view and print out forms (.10 a page)

We will update this blog with a list of libraries that do have the forms.

Attention Senior Citizens

Nassau County's Information and Assistance Fair will be held Tuesday 2/10/2009 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Broadway Mall, main level near Macy's. Click here for directions to the mall.

This fair is to help with application for benefits and entitlements.
