BOCES Referendum

Nassau Boces is looking to purchase a central location for all BOCES activities to be located at 1 Merrick Ave, Westbury.

Thursday February 5th from 7-8pm-Write a Better Research Paper-Librarian Chris Schnupp will lead you through the proper ways to do research for that upcoming research paper or project. You will learn all about the library's databases and learn the best ways to search using Google.

Tuesday February 10th-6:30-8pm-Manicure Tutorial-Come learn the techniques of nail care utilized at salons today! Fee of $5 for Manicure Kit.

Thursday February 26th-7-8pm-Teen Consultant Meeting-Enjoy a night of pizza and discussion as this new group has their second meeting focusing on the ways the library can improve the teen experience. Newcomers are welcome! Community service hours are earned for each meeting attended.

Essay Contest

Get ready for the 5th annual Essay Contest, hosted by The Nassau County Library Association.

Entries can be in essay or artwork form.

The topic of the essay is: "What does the Freedom to Read mean to you?"

Essays should be one or two pages and can be hand written or typed. This should be your personal point of view!

Create an original design or picture to be used as the logo. Submit entries on an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper.

Come into the library and get an entry form today!

Age group winners receive Barnes and Noble gift cards and be invited to a reception at the Carle Place Barnes and Noble.

Essays are due April 6th.

Where is your money going?

Visit Recovery.gov to watch a video recorded by President Obama explaining the Recovery act as well as read documents related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

There is timeline showing government agencies action and when recipients will report how the money was spent. Click on IMPACT and see wher jobs will be created.

Baseball Fans and Photographers!

Submit your favorite baseball image for possible inclusion in an exhibit. Select photographs will be displayed at the Brentwood Public Library from May 2 - May 9. The image can be related to baseball in any way, shape or form. Crowd shots, baseball food, Little League games and more are all encouraged.

Send your image as a JPEG or on CD (Formatted for Windows) to:
