Come and celebrate the finale of the Summer Reading Club with North Bellmore, Bellmore, Merrick, and North Merrick teens at the Merrick Library. We will have guitar hero, karaoke and DDR! Pizza and Italian ices will be served! Raffles and prizes! End your summer with a bang!

Feeling Good Club: Yoga
Tuesdays, September 9, 16, 23, October 7, 14, 21, 28.
7 sessions/$10 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Yoga helps to improve your posture, reduce stress and increase strength. Enjoy relaxing classes with yoga instructor Maria Yakkey. Please bring your yoga matt to the class.
Registration begins on August 5. Non-residents sign up starts on August 19.
SAT Preparation Workshop
Tuesdays September 17, 24 and October 1, 15, 22, 29.
6:45-8:45p.m.
$80 per student
Learn tricks and techniques for taking the SATs. Enhance your math and verbal skills while learning test taking strategies that can help you get a higher score.
Students must purchase the following book for the class:
McGraw-Hill’s SAT I, 2009 Edition

College Application Essay
Thursday, September 18

Fee $3
Though many students are taught how to write an essay through high school, their writing skills often need more polishing and fundamental reinforcement. Professor of English at Hofstra University, Peter O’ Neill, will help college-bound students hone better composition skills so they can create a distinctive and memorable personal statement for their college application. Professor O’Neill will provide participants of this workshop with a brief feedback on their essay via e-mail.
Registration begins on August 21. Non residents sign up starts on September 4.
10 Deadly Teen Driver Mistakes

Every year, traffic crashes claim more teenage lives than drugs, guns, suicide and AIDS combined. AAA New York offers to teens and their parents a presentation for NEW drivers on how to avoid deadly mistakes teen drivers make each and every day.
Registration begins August 30th.
Teen Chefs’ Club
Our fall menu is all about light cool snacks! Join the club and learn how to make tomato bruscetta, wont lotus skin cups, caramel apples and spooky looking gingerbread house!
Sign up for one or all three classes! Three classes for $10 or $5 per class. Registration begins on August 14. Non residents sign up starts on August 28.

With the help of the Baking Coach, each student will make an old time favorite healthy snack. Dip apples in melted caramel and cover with toppings.

This is an evening not to be missed! Michael D'Innocenzo, Professor of History at Hofstra University, will offer his insightful perspective on the upcoming election and the effects it will have on all of us. No registration necessary.

$5 material fee.
With the guidance of video producer Frank Cento, you can sing and dance your way to stardom. Everyone will receive a copy of his/her performance on DVD.

COME JOIN THE MERRICK LIBRARY TEEN SUMMER READING CLUB!
Who: Open to Merrick Library patrons in grades 7-12
What: The idea is that you read books (that you choose) and get prizes.
There will be weekly raffles and a big party at the end of the summer (August 21).
When: Registration begins at the Merrick Library Reference Desk on June 1st, with programs and raffles throughout the summer.
Summer reading Club Rules:
Reviews can be given in each week in person or online, with a raffle drawing every Friday.
The more reviews you submit the more chances you have to win the weekly raffle.
At the end of the summer everyone who has submitted at least one review will get a ticket for a Big Raffle.

Jen is our favorite teen writer and has a dedicated group of fans in our library.
