Go see the movie Twilight (in theaters November 21) or read the book, and come to share your opinion about “the world’s most popular vampire novelist”, Stephenie Meyer and the unforgettable characters created by her. We’ll raffle a Twilight Soundtrack CD and Twilight book set! Refreshments will be served.

YA Winter 2008
Let’s plow into winter at the Merrick Library!
We have a wonderful line up of new and exciting programs for teens!

Chef’s Club:
We will start a December session of the chefs’ club with preparing holiday sweet treats for your family and friends. In the cold month of January we are going Italian! Warm up an oven and bake a pizza pie. Our February workshop is as sweet as a Valentine.
Register for one or all three classes. Three classes for $10 or $5 per class.
Registration starts on November 5. Non residents sign up starts on November 19.

Sweet Treats
Thursday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Just in time for the holidays comes this sweet creative candy workshop with chef Kristine Rissanen. You will make delicious S’Mores bars, Chocolate Peppermint Bark and other tasty holiday treats.

Pizza Party
Thursday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m.
Learn how to make pizza sauce and crust from scratch. Make a personal sized pizza and take it home to bake.

DIY Club:
Do It Yourself Club invites everyone who is creative! During the winter you’ll learn how to make holiday cards, computer animation, and a one of a kind necklace.

Printmaking Workshop: Holiday Cards
Wednesday, December 3 at 6:30 p.m. $3
Learn how to create a printing plate and use it to make wonderful unique cards for this holiday season.
Registration starts on November 5. Non residents sign up starts on November 19.

Computer Animation
Wednesday, January 28 6:30-8:30 $3
This is a hands-on introduction class on how to create web based computer animation. Laptops will be provided.
Registration starts on December 30.
Non residents sign up starts on January 14.

LOL Jewelry
Thursday, February 12 6:30-7:30 p.m. $3
Mold and design clay into wearable jewelry. Make your own individual cane of clay, bake and add sealer for a one of a kind necklace just in time for Valentines Day.
Registration starts on January 8. Non residents sign up starts on January 22.

Feeling Good Club: Yoga for Teens
7sessions/$10
January 6, 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10 and 24. 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Our instructor Maria Yakkey invites teen to join in on her relaxing yoga classes.
Registration begins on December 2. Non residents sign up starts on December 16.
