Gaming at the Library?
On August 3rd we will be having a videogame tournament! We'll have several stations set up and it is UP TO YOU WHAT GAMES WE PLAY! Please leave comments with your game suggestions! Also, I will be creating a Videogame Tournament Committee (VTC) that will help with the planning and the set up. So e-mail me if you're interested!

Teen Game Night

So here's the idea . . . you bring your favorite board games or card games or whatever and we'll play them. Bring along a couple of your favorite CDs so we'll have some good background music. We'll set up a bunch of tables with different games, and then later we'll all play one big game where prizes will be awarded . . . Scene It, Family Feud, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune . . . you choose! Registration for our Teen Babysitting Course begins today!
Learn everything you need to know to become a babysitter! Get a Babysitting Certificate from a registered Nurse!
If you're in grades 7-12 you can now register for our Babysitting Course, which will be held Friday June 16th from 4-6 pm. Bring your $5 registration fee and sign up at the Reference Desk.
Once you've completed this two-hour course you can attend our Babysitting Job Fair on Monday June 19th from 7-8 pm and meet local parents looking for babysitters. E-mail me for more information.

TAG "mini-meeting"

Friday May 12th 5:30-6:00 Come to the TAG meeting then stay for Dinner and a Movie! (You must RSVP or sign up for the movie!)
The purpose of TAG is to have teens meet with the Teen Librarian and share their ideas, comments, opinions, rants, etc (preferably library related). TAG gives TEENS LIKE YOU the opportunity to shape the library's services for teens. Want better teen programs and events at the library? Want to have a say in how things are run? THEN JOIN TAG!
Oh, and you get community service credit!

Babysitting Course

Learn everything you need to know to be a babysitter!
Friday June 16th
4:00-6:00 pm
Two Registered Nurses from Winthrop University Hospital will be teaching this extensive two-hour course. You will learn: First Aid, Proper Child, Care Diaper Changing, Bottle Feeding, Child Growth and Development, How to Handle Emergency Situations, What to ask when you meet parents, What you should expect from your babysitting job, And more!
You will receive a certificate confirming that you have completed a
Babysitting Course administered by an RN.
There is a $5 Registration Fee for this course. Please bring a doll to use for various demonstrations. Registration begins Monday May 15th for Merrick Library patrons. Non-Resident registration begins June 5th. Sign-up at the Reference Desk.
