Beach Bag Book Club: Indian Summer Session

Our summer gatherings of the Beach Bag Book Club were very popular not only among local teens but between authors as well. We decided to extend this fun get-together through the fall months and invited popular authors Micol Ostow and Julie Kraut for our book discussions. Jen Calonita will host our events. There will be snacks, prizes and you can buy books too.
Meetings will all take place at the Merrick Library..
This program is open for all in grades 6-12.

College Application Essay

Professor of English at Hofstra University, Peter O’ Neill, will help college-bound students hone better composition skills so they can create a distinctive and memorable personal statement for their college application. Professor O’Neill will provide participants of this workshop with a brief feedback on their essay via e-mail.
Registration begins on August 5.

Creative Writing Workshop

We are happy to announce that our BFF author Jen Calonita is back to conduct her popular teen workshop. Jen will provide you with instructions, professional feedback and information on how to become a writer and even publish your work. We will supply you with a writing journal and snack. Participants have to register for all three sessions.
Registration begins on August 25.

Little Coffee Shop of Horrors: Merrick Library Wing. NEW!

Visit our Little Coffee Shop of Horrors and decorate deliciously spooky cookies, create terrifying jewelry and participate in Twilight Bingo. The bravest may try scary face painting! There will be ghostly snacks and prizes. You are welcome to come in costume, although dressing up is not required.
This program is sponsored by Merrick and North Bellmore Libraries and is open for all in grades 6-12.

Babysitters Workshop Babysitting and First Aid Workshop
Friday, November 13
4:00-6:00p.m. Fee: $3
Attend our popular workshop with Registered Nurses, Joann Tanck and Georgette Basso, and become a professional babysitter. Certificates will be awarded to all participants.
Please bring a doll to the class.
Course graduates can sign up for e-mail notification about babysitting jobs in Merrick. Parental permission is required. Registration begins on October 30
SAT Preparation Workshop
Wednesdays, September 9, 16, 23 and October 7, 14, 21.
6:45-8:45p.m.
$80 per student/checks only
Learn tricks and techniques for taking the SATs.
