World Hello Day

World Hello Day is celebrated around the world on November 21st. It began as part of the peace process between Egypt and Israel in 1973. The idea is that by greeting 10 people during World Hello Day, you are communicating to our government (and the leaders of many other countries) that communication, rather than war, promotes peace. Their website boasts letters written by famous people who support this effort. Sometimes the best place to start with an effort such as this is with children. I found several suggestions for "celebrating" World Hello Day, such as learning to say "hello," "goodbye," and "peace" in different languages. My guess is that your average citizen is only accomplishing a personal goal by greeting 10 people -- you'd have to explain World Hello Day to really accomplish the goal of promoting peace. Either way -- you can't go wrong with a friendly greeting!
