Public Library Volunteer Fair 2008
On
January 19, 2008, the Baldwin Public Library held what we hope
will become an annual event--the Volunteer Fair. Twenty-one community
organizations participated. Click here
for a list of the participants--they can always use your help.
Recording
Baldwin's History on Tape
The Library has received a legislative grant from N.Y.S. Senator
Dean Skelos to begin an Oral History Project here in Baldwin.
The Library has already begun interviewing and recording the memories
of some of the senior members of the community especially those
who played an important part in the founding of the Library. Eventually,
we hope to branch out to record other aspects of Baldwin's history.
All tapes will be transcribed, edited, and cataloged so that students,
reseachers, and the entire community can benefit from these precious
memories. Where appropriate, interviews will also be videotaped.
The Library is especially grateful to Senator Skelos for funding
this project and to the Baldwin Historical Society and the Woman's
Advance Club of Baldwin for their early cooperation.
If you know someone who should be recorded on audio and/or video
tape, please contact Librarian Scott D'Accordo at 223-6228.
