Let's Talk About It: Jewish Literature

The Baldwin Public Library is one of 200 libraries nationwide receiving grants to host this series developed by Nextbook and the American Library Association. These book discussions explore Jewish literature and culture through scholar-led dialog on contemporary and classic books on a common theme. Dr. Thomas E. Bird, Professor of Russian and Yiddish at Queens College, is our scholar for the series.

The current series explores the theme Between Two Worlds: Stories of Estrangement and Homecoming. The discussions will be on the following Thursdays at 7:00PM:

Date Book
2/14/08 Lost in Translation by Eva Hoffman
3/6/08 The Centaur in the Garden by Moacyr Scliar
4/8/08 Kaaterskill Falls by Allegra Goodman
5/8/08 Out of Egypt by Andre Aciman

Limited copies of all the books to be discussed will be available at the Library's Circulation Desk during the month prior to the meetings.
