Summer 2010 Required Reading

Dear Prospective 1H English Students,

First and foremost, we would like to welcome you to 9th grade English Honors. In preparation for our study of the Classical Greek Hero, your reading will include learning about important Greek mythology while reading a variety of works from the literary canon. Consequently, your summer reading assignment will be based on Edith Hamilton's collection of myths entitled Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes. This will provide you with a strong foundation for the works we will be studying in English 1H.

As Summer Reading is required, the following is an outline of what is expected before the first day of school. For your convenience, books and book cards will be distributed to you along with this letter. Please make sure that you complete a book card and return it to your teacher. Be sure to write the number of the book on the book card where it says "Number." The number can be found on the outside pages of the book or on the inside cover of the book.
