Tax Assistance
Tax season is upon us again and help is available at the library. The Bethpage Library is pleased to provide two Tax Assistance programs for the community.
AARP Tax Aide Program
For taxpayers with low-and moderate-income, with special attention to those age 60 and older
This excellent tax assistance program is sponsored by AARP and the IRS. Expertly trained volunteers will be at the library to help answer your questions and assist in filling out tax forms. APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY. Register for your appointment at the Reference Desk or call 931-3907 starting Monday, January 4, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.. Please bring last year's return; W-2 forms from each employer; unemployment compensation statements; SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits; all 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, etc.) showing interest and/or dividends and documentation showing original purchase price of sold assets ;Social Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents; dependent care provider information; forms indicating federal income tax paid. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE
Dates: Mondays from February 1 through April 12
Thursdays from February 4 through April 15
Time: 12:00 NOON to 4:00 P.M.
VITA Tax Help For All Ages
For taxpayers with income below $49,000
VITA (Volunteers for Income Tax Assistance) will be at the library to provide expert tax assistance for members of the community regardless of age. APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY. Register for your appointment at the Reference Desk or call 931-3907 starting Monday, January 4, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Please bring last year's return and pertinent papers. THERE IS NO CHARGE.
Dates: Saturdays, February 6 through April 10
Time: 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
