Using eBooks
- The Bryant Library provides access
to a collection of over 1,500 electronic books (eBooks) through a
joint venture between the Co-Central Libraries of Nassau Library
System and netLibrary, producer and host to one of the largest collection
of electronic books.
- You do not need any special equipment
to read these eBooks. They can be read either online through your
Web browser or offline by downloading the eBook to your computer using
netLibrary's free reader software.
- In order to read or checkout
free eBooks, you must first register at the Bryant Library.
Just stop by the Reference Desk in the Adult or Children's Department
to sign up for your netLibrary account. [Bryant Library Cardholders
Only].
- You will find eBooks on careers,
business, investing, computers, health, travel and more. In
addition to these 1,500 eBooks, you have free access to an extensive
list of eBooks in the public domain, featuring classics in literature
and history.
- Our Audiovisual Computer is available
for those patrons who do not own a computer, but who would like to
preview an eBook. eBooks may be previewed for up to 15 minutes
at a time.
Accessing eBooks using
netLibrary after you have registered
Go to the Library's Web site at http://www.nassaulibrary.org/bryant
and click on netLibrary.
- Quick
Search lets you easily find information about specific eBooks.
You can use this search without logging into netLibrary. However,
to check out a book you must create a user account and log in.
- On
the netLibrary home page, enter search information in the Search
box displayed at the top of your screen.
- or
select a search option from the list. You can search Full Text,
Keyword, Title, Author, or Subject.
- Click
Go to start the search.
- Power
Search lets you search by title, author, subject, or other criteria

netLibrary offers three kinds of
eBooks on its Web site:

Library Collection books are available through the Bryant Library's connection to netLibrary
and can be checked out for 72 hours at a time. This collection includes
1,500 titles. |

Public Collection
books are available for free to anyone in the world and include
many classic titles that are in the public domain and no longer
under copyright protection. These also include political speeches
and documents such as the U.S. Declaration of Independence. |

Private Collection -
not available at this time. |
