What is netLibrary and why do I need an account? The Bryant Public Library has access to 1,500 titles from netLibrary on a free trial basis. The ebooks are full-text, fully searchable, and are accessible from any Web browser. An account is required if you wish to check-out any of the titles you find. How do I create an account? There are two options for setting up an account.
For Bryant Library Cardholders ONLY!OPTION 1 : Send E-mail to ebooks@bryantlibrary.org. Include your First and Last name, home address and phone no., 14 digit library card no. and E-mail address. Your 14 digit library card number will be your username and the last 4 digits of your home phone no. will be your password.
- OR -
OPTION 2 : Come into the Bryant Library to complete a netLibrary registration form and we will notify you by E-mail or telephone when you account has been activated. Patrons must show their Bryant Llibrary card before the registration form can be processed.
Does it matter where I create my account?
Your netLibrary account must be created from a Bryant Library computer by Library staff. netLibrary will then give you access to the Bryant Library's eBook collection. Can I use netLibrary at home or from my office? netLibrary eBooks are available from Internet-connected home or work computers through the Library's Web site at http://www.nassaulibrary.org/bryant. Click on the netLibrary icon. How do I "Check-out" a book and how long do I have access to it? The system of checking out eBooks works much like a traditional library. If the book you want is available, you can check it out by clicking on the "Check Out" icon . You then have sole access to the title for the next 72 hours. Bryant Library has access to one "copy" of each eBook. Only one person at a time can check out or preview an eBook. The eBook is automatically returned to netLibrary and no fines are incurred.
What does "Previewing" an ebook mean? eBooks are previewed in 15 minute intervals. You will be allowed an additional 15 minutes as long as another library patron has not requested the eBook. You can preview an eBook without creating a netLibrary account while you are in the Library. We suggest that you use the Audiovisual Computer to preview eBooks.
To preview an eBook, locate the eBook you want to view. Click the eBook title to display the information page. Click the "Preview" icon. netLibrary will display the eBook.
What is the difference between the Public Collection, the Library Collection and the Private Collection? There are three types of eBook collections at netLibrary - Library, Private and Public.
- The Library Collection contains eBooks that the Bryant Library has on trial.
- The Public Collection contains public domain eBooks that are free to everybody. Titles in the Public Collection can be read without restriction - you don't have to preview or check-out these titles.
- The Private Collection contains copyrighted eBooks that the library has not yet purchased. You cannot view or borrow books in the Private Collection.
How do I search for information? Quick Search allows you to quickly locate an eBook by searching keywords, author, title or subject. To perform a Quick Search:
Power Search allows you to search multiple fields, including title, author and keywords. The more information you enter, the more precise the results.
- Select a Quick Search option from the dropdown list on the main navigation panel.
- Enter search text.
- Click "Go."
- netLibrary displays the search results.
To perform a Power Search:
- Click "Power Search" on the netLibrary main navigation panel.
- Enter search text.
- Text entered in the Title, Author or Keywords fields searches the title list of ebooks
- Text entered in the Full Text field searches the full text of all ebooks, allowing you to go to a specific page or section of a book.
- Select the ebooks collections you want to search.
- Click "Search."
- netLibrary displays the search results.
Can I download an ebook? You can download a eBook to your home or office computer and read offline. When downloading you still only have access to the eBook for 72 hours. To read downloaded eBooks offline you will need to download netLibrary's software to your computer. To access the download instructions click on the "check-out" icon .
What are the system requirements for the ebook reader software? Pentium 100 or equivalent processor

20 MB of free hard disk space
Windows 95/98, NT 4.0 or greater
Not compatible with Macintosh, WebTV, or any version of UnixCan I print an ebook? You can print eBooks one page at a time. If you are printing a substantial part of a book you will receive a message alerting you to copyright restrictions. Who do I contact if I need more information?
