Welcome to the Nassau Library
System's Born to Read Website!
Libraries have seen
an increase in demand for services from parents of babies. It can be argued
that this is directly related to the recent developments in brain research
of babies.
'Baby' is a broad
term that can mean anything from newborn to toddler age. We have developed
this website in order to help librarians define and decide who they want
to serve and how they can do it. It is our hope that the information contained
here will help you plan and implement a program that is age-appropriate
for the audience you wish to serve.
We have sample programs,
lists of resources (books & music) to use while planning your program,
and links to websites that provide information on child development and
the most recent research on brain development.
If you have any questions,
please feel free to email us.
