PROGRAM:  “Turning Ideas Into Books” - this program introduces students to the world of writing and publishing.  During the presentation, students learn how authors work, the procedures editors and publishers use to turn manuscripts into books, and how students can also become authors.  The presentation includes anecdotes about the experiences of several well-known juvenile authors.  Students are provided with hands-on opportunities to examine actual manuscripts, proofs, galleys, book maps and the bound book version of a manuscript.  They will leave the presentation with the knowledge of how books are made and the realization that hard work and determination can enable each of them to become writers.
