East Williston Library Long Range Plan 2005 - 2010
Goal 1:
To provide community members with access to current, popular materials for
learning and entertainment.
Objectives:
- Purchase sufficient reading materials for adult and juvenile collections
- Evaluate suggestions from adults and children
- Increase new book and subject displays
- Offer adult lectures and programs
- Provide resource information to the Senior Committee
Goal 2:
Foster a love of books and reading in children.
Objectives:
- Offer story time programs
- Provide for varied children's programs
- Increase participation in the Summer Reading Program
- Partner with the East Williston School District
Goal 3:
Promote technology to access information.
Objectives:
- Offer computer training classes
- Involve staff in computer instruction to patrons
- Redesign the Library's Web page to make it easier for people to locate
information
- Educate the public on databases available through the library
Goal 4:
Increase and support the continuing professional development of library staff.
Objectives:
- Provide job-specific training to all staff
- Increase staff participation in library decision-making as appropriate
- Provide continuing education opportunities offered through the Nassau
Library System
