Frequently Asked Questions...

Q: What is a RENTAL book?

A: A RENTAL book at the East Williston Public Library is one that a patron will be charged ten cents per day to check out. NEW ADULT FICTION books are put into RENTAL status for six months. We do this to encourage quick turnaround for our new books.

We will not send our RENTAL books to patrons of other libraries who have holds on these titles, but will give them to other library patrons by direct access provided they are willing to abide by the ten cents per day charge.

Q: How do I get a Library Card?

A: Stop into the library for a registration card. Fill this card out with your current information. Once your registration card is complete, we will ask for proof of residency (e.g. driver's license or utility bill with your name and address).

Your current information will be entered into the Nassau Library System and we will give you a brand new East Williston library card. We are also offering a key chain version of your card for a $1.00 donation to the library.

Q: What if I lose my library card?

A: No problem...Stop in and register for a replacement library card ($3.00 replacement charge).
