FREEPORT MEMORIAL LIBRARY BEST SELLERS CLUB

Join the Library's Best Sellers Club and you will automatically be placed on the reserve list for the latest fiction by best selling authors. Select up to 20 authors. Your reserves will be placed automatically and you will be notified when your book becomes available.You may register online, or if you prefer to register in person, you may pick up a Best Sellers Club Form from any public service desk in the Library. You may drop off your completed form at the Circulation or Reference desks. Please note that the Best Sellers Club is open to Freeport Memorial Library cardholders only. Please pick up books when you are notified of their availability. Books not picked up promptly will go to the next person.

ROSETTA STONE ONLINE LANGUAGE LEARNING CENTER

The Freeport Memorial Library now subscribes to the Rosetta Stone Online Language Learning Center. This easy-to-use, colorful, and interactive website is available for Freeport patrons to use either from home, or in the Library. Take language lessons at your own pace and repeat them as often as you like. Use Rosetta Stone to learn English (British or American), Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Danish, Dutch, Farsi (Persian), French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese (BR), Russian, Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), Swedish, Tagalog, Turkish, Vietnamese, and Welsh. To use Rosetta Stone from home, you will need to have Windows 98 or better, IE6 with the Shockwave plugin installed, a sound card, and a microphone.

Begin by clicking on either the logo to the left or the link above. Rosetta Stone can also be accessed through our Subscription Database page. First-time users will be asked to create a username and a password before beginning a lesson. You will need an email address and your library card to create your account.

If you have difficulty getting started with Rosetta Stone, you may call their
toll free technical support line at: 1(800) 788-0822 ext. 1000
 

MAC Users, please note that there is a compatibility issue with Adobe Shockwave 11
that may disable the program launch function. Rosetta Stone recommends using
Shockwave 10 until they are fully compatible with version 11.

To obtain a library card, come to the Circulation Desk with two forms of current identification that show that you live in the Village of Freeport or the Freeport School District. For example, you may bring an electric or telephone bill, drivers license, a letter addressed to you, a report card, school ID, or your school bus pass. After you complete a short application, you will receive your card. Each person in your family should have his/her own library card. With your library card, you may borrow books, magazines, audiotapes, compact discs and videotapes, and use the public access computers.


The FRIENDS of the Library are a volunteer group who promote the Library in the Community. Click on the logo to the right to visit the FRIENDS page.

The Freeport Memorial Library Board of Trustees governs the Library. The Board consists of five members of the community appointed by the School Board for a term of five years. The Board Members serve on a volunteer basis. The Library Director is appointed by, and responsible to, the Board of Trustees for the day to day operations of the Library.

The Library scans the minutes of the Library Board, the School Board and the Village Board into Adobe Acrobat format. If you e-mail the Reference Department at reffr@nassaulibrary.org and let us know which minutes you want, we will e-mail them to you.

The Library is not responsible for any errors in these minutes due to the scanning process, and maintains file copies of the minutes of these agencies at the Reference Desk of the Library.
