Then come to the Library and borrow a member's pass to one of the museums below and discover the wonders of our cultural heritage.


Museum passes circulate for two days. There is a fine of $2.00 per day for overdue passes. When you borrow passes for a museum, please check the due date.




American Folk Art Museum

The American Folk Art Museum is one of the leading institutions dedicated to the exhibition and preservation of folk art. The colection includes 18th and 19th century paintings, quilts, and sculptures as well as dynamic works of contemporary self-taught artists. The membership includes free admission for two adults plus children and grandchildren under age 18. You may take advantage of a 10% discount at the Museum Book and Gift Shops.

American Museum of Natural History

Renowned for its vast collections and informative exhibitions, the Museum interprets key areas of science for the public and serves as a field guide to our planet, its culture, and its place in the cosmos. There are more than forty grand exhibition halls that span subjects ranging from dinosaurs, to gems and minerals, to life in the sea, to the cultures of the seven continents, and to the cosmos. The membership includes free admission and discounts on shop and restaurant purchases, on Space Show, IMAX theater, and special exhibition tickets for two adults and up to four children.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden blooms in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world. More than 12,000 kinds of plants from around the globe are displayed on 52 acres and in the acclaimed Steinhardt Conservatory. The membership includes free admission for two adults and children under 16, and a 10% discount at the Garden Gift Shop and the Terrace Cafe.

Brooklyn Children's Museum

The Brooklyn Children's Museum is the world's first museum for children. Since 1899, BCM has given youth a place where learning and life come together, and children can explore culture, arts, science, and the environment. BCM offers innovative hands-on exhibitions, daily workshops and programs, and weekend multicultural performances. The membership includes admission for two adults and their children through age 16, all residing in the same household, and a 10% discount at Kidshop, the museum store.

Brooklyn Museum of Art

The Brooklyn Museum of Art is the second largest art musum in New York City and one of the largest in the United States. One of the premier art institutions in the world, its permanent collection includes more than one and a half million objects, from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary art, and represents almost every culture. The membership includes free admission for two adults and four children under age 18, and a 10% discount at the Museum Shop and Cafés.

El Museo Del Barrio

El Museo del Barrio is one of the foremost Latin American cultural institutions in the United States. El Museo prides itself in representing the full scope and richness of the Latin American communities in El Barrio, the city of New York, and throughout the country. El Museo's mission to interpret and disseminate the Latin American cultural heritage is reflected through its exhibitions and educational programs. The membership includes free admission for a family of four and a 10% discount on Museum shop purchases.

Guggenheim Museum

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is home to one of the world's finest collections of Modern and contemporary art, The Wright building, the youngest to be designated a New York City langdmark, is itself one of the greatest works in the Guggenheim collection. The membership includes free admission for two adults and all children 18 and younger living in the same household, and discounts in all Cafés and museum stores, as well as parking near the museum.

Intrepid – Sea, Air, Space Museum

Launched in 1943 the USS Intrepid served the United States Navy for 31 years. This Essex Class carrier was one of America's most effective military vessels along with her 23 sister ships. The Intrepid formed the backbone of the United States Navy and its commitment to peace and freedom. Destined to be scrapped in the 1970, a campaign led by the Intrepid Museum Foundation saved the Intrepid Museum Foundation saved the Intrepid and subsequently, the Museum opened as a symbol of peace and education in August 1982. In 1986, the ship was officially designated as a National Historic Landmark. The membership includes free admission for two adults and up to three children, and a $2.00 discount off admission to the Navy Flight Simulator, and a 15% discount at the Intrepid Museum Store, and a 20% discount off food, beverage and merchandise at Planet Hollywood.

 

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the world's largest and finest art museums. Its collections include more than two million works of art spanning 5,000 years of world culture, from prehistory to the present and from every part of the globe. Theu Museum's two-million-square-foot building has vast holdings that represent a series of collections, each of which ranks in its category among the finest in the world. The Museum of the City of New York

The Museum of the City of New York holds one of America's most important photographic collections, a world renowned collection on American theater, and the finest and most complete collection of Currier and Ives hand-colored lithographs. New York Hall of Science

The New York Hall of Science is randed as one of the America's best science museums. Visit the Hall to interact with over 225 exhibits which provide fun learning experiences for everyone! Hands-on exhibits and trained Explainers are available to enrich your museum experience as you discover the wonders of science. See the physics, chemistry and biology behind everyday life. Free parking is available in the on-site lot except during the U.S. Tennis Open.

Old Westbury Gardens

Old Westbury Gardens, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the former home of John S. Phipps, his wife, Margarita Grace Phipps, and their four children. Built in 1906 by the English designer George A. Crawley, the magnificent Charles II-style mansion is nestled amid 160 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, woodlands, ponds, and lakes. Westbury House is furnished with fine English antiques and decorative arts from the more than fifty years of the family's residence. The membership includes free admission to the museum for two adults and their children and a 10% discount at the Garden Gate Gift Shop and the Garden Plant Shop.

Paley Center for Media

The Paley Center for Media was founded by William S. Paley in 1975 to collect, preserve, and interpret television and radio programming and to make these programs available to the public. After requesting a program from the collection, you may privately listen to or watch your selection at radio and television consoles.

Whitney Museum of American Art

In 1998, the Whitney opened the Leonard & Evelyn Lauder Galleries, elegant, redesigned exhibition spaces on the fifth floor devoted exclusively to selections from the Museums's renowned Permanent Collection. More than two hundred works from the first half of the twentieth century – including painting, sculpture, prints, photographs, and drawings – are now on continuous display. The Leonard & Evelyn Lauder Galleries are anchored by rooms dedicated to three artists whose work the Museum has collected in depth and who are closely associated with the Whitney's history: Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keefe, and Alexander Calder.
