Black and White by Paul Volponi

Marcus and Eddie, known as Black and White to their friends, are best friends living in Long Island City Queens. They are stars of their High School basketball team and being scouted by the best schools in the area. Everything is going great for them except they wished they had more money. Black lives in the projects and White lives in a house right outside of the projects. They need money for their upcoming Senior dues and just to keep up with the latest fashion out. At first they saved money the good old way by saving their allowance but that took to long and wasn't enough. Like many people Black and White wanted to get rich quick so they decided to start sticking people up. White took a gun that belonged to his deceased grandfather and the boys used that to rob people. Everything seemed to be going good for the boys until one night a robbery went wrong. Somehow White pulled the trigger on the gun and the man they were robbing got shot. Neither one of the boys knew if the man died until the night of a big game when Black was arrested. The man that White shot had identified Black as one of the robbers. Black kept his mouth shut and refused to give White up but eventually the cops got him too and he was arrested. Black and White's great lives of playing college ball and then going pro are being pulled out from under them fast. To find out what happens to Black and White read Black and White by Paul Volponi.
