Funding for these programs is provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library.
Any Young Adult program requiring resgistration is for students in grades 6-12 only.
Registered participants must be present at the time the program is scheduled to begin.
We reget that after that time, their place may be given to those on the waiting list.

9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "Pedicure Workshop" on June 14.

"Pedicure Workshop." Mrs. Kathy Giouvalakis, licensed nail technician and state examiner, will teach YAs how to pedicure, decorate, and take care of their feet. Limited to 15 participants in each session. Registration will begin on May 31.

9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "Yak & Snack" on July 9 and for "Creative Clay Workshop" on June 30.

9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "Creative Clay Workshop" on June 30.
Monday, June 30  
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Creative Clay Workshop." Transform an ordinary lump of clay into cups, bowls, human figures, animal sculpture, or abstract sculpture. Rona Madri, art educator, will instruct the participants in using slab, coil, and exciting hand-building techniques with air-dry clay. Limited to 20 participants. Register beginning Monday, June 16.

9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "Metamorphosis - Rainforest Butterflies" on July 21.
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Pictionary Tournament." Try your hand at “Charades on Paper” with other YAs in the large meeting room. Prizes and refreshments to participants! Register beginning Monday, June 23.

9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "Yak & Snack" on July 30.
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. "Yak & Snack" book discussion of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson. Join the Young Adult Librarian and other young adults in grades 6-12 for an hour of conversation about books with refreshments. Register beginning Wednesday, June 16.
Monday, July 14
9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "The Teen Boss Workshop" on July 28.
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Fruit Smoothies Workshop." Register beginning Monday, June 30. Learn to make four different smoothies going from station to station at this workshop led by Nancy Adornetto. Yas will be instructed in safe methods of food preparation. Limited to 20 participants.

9:30 a.m. Registration begins for "Open Mic Night" on August 4.
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ʻTweens & Teens Movie Night." Rated PG–13. Refreshments will be served. No registration needed.
Monday, July 21  
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. "Metamorphosis - Rainforest Butterflies." Steve Fratello has extensively explored the worldʼs tropical rainforests. YAs will be given a glimpse of the stunning beauty and infinite variety of rainforest life. Register beginning Monday, July 7.
Monday, July 28  
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "The Teen Boss Workshop." Register beginning Monday, July 14. This is designed to teach YAs the basics behind beginning entrepreneurship. Each person attending will receive Terry Parrettʼs Teen Boss Toolkit, a CD-ROM packed with goal-setting and planning material, sample advertising and marketing pieces, ideas for different types of businesses they can start, and more. Limited to 30 participants.

"Yak & Snack" book discussion of Vampire High, by Douglas Rees. Join the Young Adult Librarian and other young adults in grades 6-12 for an hour of conversation about books with refreshments. Register beginning Monday, July 9.

7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. "Open Mic Night." Are you a potential American Idol? Prizes will be awarded based on the audienceʼs response to the act. Refreshments will be served. Sign up & give a “trailer.” Register beginning Thursday, July 17.
Wednesday, August 27  
  BACK TO SCHOOL BASH , 7:00–8:30pm By invitation, this is a celebration for those who successfully completed and participated in the YA Summer Reading Club OR volunteered for Teens & Tots Storytime at the pool. Food, fun entertainment and raffle prizes for all! This year a DJ has been hired to run a Karaoke Idol program. All participants will receive a CD of the evening.
