Adult Services
The Adult Services
Division of the Glen Cove Public Library offers a wide range of services and programs to meet the needs of the adult learner in the community. The reference librarians provide assistance to the patron in retrieving information from book and electronic sources. On-line searching over the Internet is available for our subscription databases including EBSCO, InfoTrac, UMI ProQuest Direct, GaleNet, Reference USA, Heritage Quest as well as the automotive service product AllData.
The Reference collection maintains special business and finance sources, including Dun and Bradstreet and Value Line Investment Services . Other special collections include our Career Development Center which offers books and periodicals on vocational opportunities, resume writing, and other important career related skills, and our media collection of compact discs, audio books, dvds and videos.
Adult Services also sponsors bus trips, book discussions, special lectures and hands-on arts and crafts workshops to satisfy the adult learner's educational needs.

- Databases from Home - Everybody enjoys surfing the Web for information, but most of the industrial strength research and business databases are fee-based and very costly. Our Library subscribes to many of these high quality online databases that are available to our patrons without charge.
- Free Internet Access Available at the Library - Glen Cove Public Library patrons have free access to the Internet from terminals within the Library. Currently seven PCs are dedicated exclusively to the Internet, offering full World Wide Web access. Literally hundreds of thousands of Web sites can be reached in a matter of seconds over our high speed connections. In addition, the Library subscribes to many information-packed databases, some available exclusively in the Library, and some available both in the Library and from your home computer.
