    The goal of Family and Children’s Association’s youth services is to maintain "at risk" youth in their family and community systems and to prevent these youth from long term institutional placements. Family and Children’s Association strives to keep families intact by utilizing an array of integrated supportive services that meet individual and family needs, and by teaching skills which develop self-sufficiency and a strong community service ethic. Among these services is the only Nassau County-based emergency shelter and safe haven for runaway youth.

    Teen Drop in Center Program
    The Teen Drop-In Center is a prevention program for youth ages 12-17 that creates a safe, supervised haven for recreation and learning during the critical after-school and early evening hours. The Teen Drop-In Center provides leisure activity, academic enrichment, cultural arts and technology, with crisis counseling and gang prevention services.

    Services Offered:

    • Tutoring computer literacy, and homework help
    • Recreation: games, dance instruction, movies, videogames
    • Prevention workshops on topics such as: drug and alcohol use, gang involvement, and teen pregnancy
