JANUARY BOOKMARK CONTEST  Come together @ Your Library   Create your own bookmark for National Library Week 2007 with our separate grades K-2 and 3-5 contests. Pick up your entry blank starting Tuesday, January 2, 2007 continuing through the month. The contest closes Wednesday, January 31.   The bold and colorful bookmark you design will help us celebrate National Library Week (April 15 - 21, 2007).  All winning entries will be displayed on the Hewlett–Woodmere Public Library Home Page during the month of April.  Look under Kids Sites.   Winners will be announced in the next Overleaf Jr.

Art Smart With Cheryl Frey Richards   Carving Sculptures   Monday, January 29, 6:30 p.m.   Grades K - 2     Sculpture is the universal art form used by every culture.  Learn to recognize sculpture around you and have the opportunity to create your own sculpture by carving your own block of soap.   District residents may register Tuesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. & 7 p.m.

Origami Workshop    Thursday, March 8, 6:30 p.m.   Grades 3 to 5   Origami specialist MaryAnn Scheblein-Dawson returns to our library with another fun workshop.  You will learn the history of origami while creating colorful objects folded from a single sheet of paper.   District residents may register Monday, February 26 at 10 a.m. & 7 p.m.

Seth Bloom Presents Casey Carle's Bubblemania   Friday, February 23, 1:30 p.m.   Ages 5 and older   Ordinary bubbles become extraordinary when Seth Bloom brings us his own unique comic bubbling touches to Casey Carle's BubbleMania!  Marvel at the beautiful bouncing bubbles in a multitude of shapes, sizes and colors.   District Residents and Friends of the Library may pick up tickets beginning Wednesday, February 7 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.   The Friends of the Library are proud to co-sponsor this program.
