Hicksville Public Library Just for Kids

Registration for Hicksville UFSD residents for all June programs will be held online on Monday, May 21st at 9:15 AM and all July programs Monday, June 18th at 9:15 AM. Proof of birth date is required for children under the age of 3. A current Hicksville library card is required as proof of residency. Fees must be paid in cash in the Children’s Room within seven days of registering and are not refundable, materials for craft classes will not be available after the program has been presented. JUMP FOR JOY

SPRING STORYTIMES

A delightful half hour of songs and stories.

FAMILY FUN TIME

Enjoy an interactive hour with your preschoolers featuring singing, dancing, storytelling, a craft and more.

PLAYHOORAY

Ages: 6-18 months Class Size: 20 babies/20 caregivers
Music and Fun For Your Little One! Come sing, dance & PlayHooray with your baby. This 45 minute program is a lively introduction to nursery rhymes, books, music and movement.

CREATIVE ART
Class: Wednesday, June 6 at 4:00 PM
Ages: 5-8 Class Size: 25 Fee: $2.00
Children will create a wonderful “folded shirt” Father’s Day Card. Cool project for that “special guy”.
Class: Tuesday, June 12 at 7:15 PM
Ages: 5-8 Class Size: 25 Fee: $2.00
Children will make a mobile to help decorate the library for the summer. Work will be displayed for everyone to see.

TIME FOR ART
Classes: Thursdays, May 31 and June 7, 14 at 10:00 AM
Ages: 3-5 Class Size: 25 Fee: $6.00
This month children will help decorate the library with a super mobile. They will also make a “folded shirt” Father’s Day card and create a “starry night” craft.

PILLOWCASE
THURSDAY, JUNE 7 AT 7:00 PM
JOIN TINA GELLER IN DESIGNING A “DREAM” PILLOWCASE TO CELEBRATE THE BEGINNING OF THE SUMMER READING PROGRAM. SPACE IS LIMITED SO REGISTER AND PAY QUICKLY.

“WISH UPON A PENNY” STEPPING STONE
MONDAY, JUNE 11 at 4:00 PM
Grades: K-5 Class Size: 25 Fee: $4.00
Fill a clay plate with cement then decorate with pennies, glass stones, sea glass and more. Sponge paint the edge with metallic paint. Makes a great gift for dad.

SUMMER READING CLUB DREAM BIG – READ!
Registration for this year’s Summer Reading Club begins Monday,
June 25that 9:05 AM. First day to submit reading lists is Monday, July 2nd.

ONE WORLD WITH CHRIS MERWIN
TUESDAY, JUNE 26TH AT 7:00 PM
One World is a one of a kind multi-cultural music show conceived by Chris Merwin who has traveled the globe to perform and study music.
Chris’ One World program is fun, highly educational, and fully interactive. The cultural and historical background of many unique instruments is given. Kids will do a calypso Simon Says routine, the limbo, sing, and play both the steel drum and a ten foot long Tibetan trumpet. There is no show anywhere quite like it!

DREAM BIG – READ!
LITTLE DREAMERS – READ-TO-ME.
Children, ages 3 and up, will be given charts to record 10 books shared at home. Completed charts entitle them to place their name on a banner in the library and receive a prize each week. Young children are encouraged to draw pictures of the stories read to them which will be included in our Summer Reading Club Magazine.

BIG DREAMERS – INDEPENDENT READERS
After your child has read the first 5 books, have them bring a list of titles to the library. We will place their name on a banner in the Children’s Room and they will receive a prize each week, for each group of 5 books read. They can submit a drawing or written summary of the story which will be included in our Summer Reading Club Magazine.
