Students entering sixth grade are eligible for an adult library card.  Bring your report card or other proof to the Circulation Desk.  Bring your parent along to complete an Internet Permission Form for you, too!  If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a written permission form for the internet on file at the Library.  The form must be completed in person at the Adult Reference Desk

The Metamorphosis @ Your Library Teen Summer Reading Club started on Monday, June 23rd . Register at the Adult Reference Desk and receive your starter kit.  As a member, you will read any books you choose at home, the beach, wherever.  For each five books you read, to a limit of 25 books, you will receive a prize and a raffle ticket for our Closing Raffle on Thursday, September 4th.  Complete an Official Report Form for each group of five books.  Return this to the Adult Reference Desk to claim your prize.  Some Report Forms are included in the Starter Kit.  Additional copies are in the racks in the Teen Corner at the Library.  Also, you may download a copy of the Form here. Raffle tickets will be entered for you into the Closing Raffle to be held on Thursday, September 4th  immediately following “Karaoke” by 2 X-Treme Inc. You do not need to be present to win.

Teen Summer Programs will register starting on Tuesday, July 1st and continue until programs are full.  All materials fees are payable at registration.

The Duct Tape Workshop will take place on Thursday, July 10th at 7:00 P. M.  Make a pair of Flip Flops from duct tape with Janine Bendicksen.  The materials fee is $3.00 and we will have space for 15 Teens.

Ghostly pirates, shipwrecks, and eerie phantom ships will be sailing into port on Thursday, July 17th at 7:00 P. M. with Long Island’s most famous ghost hunters, The Paranormal Adventurers, Joseph Flammer and Diane Hill.  Explore Long Island’s seafaring days when the oceans belonged to pirates like Captain Kidd!  Hear haunting tales of thieves with lanterns who tricked sailors into running aground on the very beaches we swim and fish at today!  The program is free and there is no limit.

Join Lee Perrotta for fifty minutes of exhilarating kickboxing on Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 P. M.  Learn the moves, eye-hand coordination, leg and arm movements, and techniques.  Great for de-stressing!  You MUST wear sneakers to this class!  No sandals or flip flops!  This class is free and we will have space for 25 Teens.

Shirley Ruby will return on Monday, August 18th at 7:00 P. M. to show us how to make a Bohemian Boxer Bag.  This is a wild and wacky, roomy bag made from a pair of boxer shorts.  Paint, stamp, splatter, and sponge the shorts into a boutique item your friends will envy.  Wear old clothes as the paints are permanent. The materials fee is $3.00 and we will have supplies for 20 Teens.

Karaoke with 2 X-Treme will take place on Thursday, September 4th from 6:30 -8:00 P. M.  Sing to your favorite songs – solo or in groups!  Or just come and listen!  Words will be displayed on a flat screen.  The Metamorphosis @ Your Library Teen Summer Reading Club’s Closing Raffle will be held immediately following this program.  This program is free and has no limit.

We have some new books in the Teen Corner!  The YA McNaughtons are
recently published teen fiction, which we have leased for our collection.  The books will be in the library for a few months before being returned to McNaughton.  The books circulate for only two weeks rather than the regular four week loan period.  They are shelved right after our Graphic Novel Collection. So check them out and enjoy!

Remember- if you have any suggestions for materials we should purchase or programs we should have, please let us know.
