The Richard E. Evers Hicksville Archives was started in the Bicentennial year of1976 by the library’s director, Kenneth Barnes. In 1988, Richard E. Evers, an author and historian, took charge of the Archives and to this day he is involved with the acquisition and preservation of materials that tells the story of the community’s past and recent times.
Some of the features of the Archives are as follows:
- An extensive subject specific vertical file covering the length and breadth of our town’s extensive history.
- The complete set of the History of Hicksville books written by Richard Evers and Dorothy Rettberg Brown.
- A collection of High School and Middle School yearbooks.
Interested researchers, students, genealogists and residents will need to contact our librarian, Mr. James Janis, to learn if we can help with your information request.
The Archives will continue to grow and expand to offer the community new material of even greater value.
