MISSION STATEMENT
The Hillside Public Library is established for the purpose of providing all of the residents of School District No. 5 with access to books, pamphlets, periodicals, audio-visual resources, and services which will satisfy their need to become better educated, better informed, and to better enjoy their leisure time.

The democratic principles of our American heritage are ever kept in mind, as is a deep responsibility under the Federal Constitution to promote the broad dissemination of ideas compatible therewith.

The Board recognizes the ideals that the community library should have sufficient resources to enable it to provide the most frequently requested material from its own collection and that the physical facilities of the public library should fit the programs of library service.

The public library is an integral part of the state government.  It should be closely integrated with the community and must know and work with the organized groups and established institutions, which the people maintain.
