Lending Policies and Fines

Most books are loaned for 28 days. New adult books are loaned for 14 days.

New audio books are loaned only to Levittown library cardholders for 14 days. Older audio books are loaned for 28 days. Instructional audio cassettes have a loan period of 28 days.

Direct access patrons in good standing may borrow books directly from any public library in Nassau County when their card is properly validated.

Compact discs are loaned for 14 days.

Video and DVD borrowers must be at least 18 years of age, and registered patrons of the Levittown Public Library in good standing. Loan period for most videos is 3 days, except for rental tapes, which are 1 day, and instructional tapes, which have a longer loan period (1 week or 28 days). Rental tapes are new releases and cost $1.00 for one day.
Video tapes and DVD's owned by the library for less than one year are available for loan only to Levittown library cardholders.
 

Fines

Adult Materials returned late accrue fines at ten cents a day to a maximum of $3.00 each with the exception of magazines and videos.

Duplicate pay collection charges are fifty cents for one week loan, and twenty-five cents for each day thereafter, to a maximum of $7.50.

Juvenile Materials and all Magazines returned late accrue fines at five cents a day to a maximum of $1.50 each with the exception of videos.

Video fines are $2.00 a day for rentals and $1.00 a day for all other videos.
