Greetings Locust Valley! I hope you had a chance to come out and enjoy the Friends of the Locust Valley Library Annual Book Sale on May 2nd and 3rd. Thanks to your support the Friends had one of their best years yet. Many books found new homes; and many local organizations will make good use of the “leftovers.” The American Legion will benefit by taking military books for their library. Local nursery schools were given an opportunity to choose books and VHS’ for their collections, too. The Board of Trustees, administration and staff are so grateful to our Friends for their efforts on behalf of the Library.
New products are arriving soon. We will be adding downloadable audio books to our collection sometime in July. You will be able to use many different media players to enjoy this new service. It will be easier for you to take a “book” along to work or on vacation. Planning a trip this summer? Come in and check out our new travel kits. Each kit contains a travel guide, language CD’s, travel DVD, maps and, if available, a kid-friendly travel guide, too.
Please remember to vote on May 19th on the Library’s budget. This year the vote will take place at the Ann MacArthur Primary School on Ryefield Road. Hours for voting are from 6 AM to 9 PM. Details about our proposed budget can be found on the home page of our website. We are asking for a raise of 1.65% to maintain the high quality of service we provide for you and the children of the community. Please be part of the process.
Our new newsletter will be out in a few weeks. We have many new and exciting programs to keep you engaged and busy in the coming summer months. Look for it before the end of May.
Well that’s all for now…we’ll chat again soon.
