2008 COURT POLICIES, RULES & PROCEDURES
The tennis courts will be open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. Weather Permitting, the courts will open on May 1, 2008.
GENERAL RULES

Please be aware that your tennis courts operate on the basic concepts of common courtesy, respect for others, and good sportsmanship at all times.

All players must wear appropriate tennis attire. Tennis sneakers are required. Running shoes, basketball sneakers, bathing suits, leotards, or jeans are not permitted.

Non-playing children are not permitted on the courts.

Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Absolutely no smoking or drinking alcohol permitted on the premises.

The LVTA may reserve courts for special events.

Tennis instructors, other than Steve Abbondondelo and his staff, are prohibited.

If there are no players on the courts when you finish play, please make sure the gate is locked when you leave.

Family membership consists of a married couple and their unmarried children, up to age 25, all residing in the same household.
SIGN UP
- Use of courts is limited to one hour for singles or ninety minutes for doubles, when others are waiting.
- All players’ last names (members and guests) must be signed in on the sign up board, with the starting time, before play begins.
GUESTS
Members must accompany guests. Guests may not play without a member.
Adult guest fees are $20 per guest per day, and $10 per guest for children under the age of 18. Kindly deposit the fees in the guest fee box located at the sign up board before you begin play. Please write member’s name and date on the provided guest fee envelope.
Please use discretion in inviting guests on weekends when the courts are at their busiest times.
Please do not take advantage of the guest privilege. Guests who play more than twice per month will be asked to join the LVTA.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
1. Members must sweep the courts and lines after play.
- Routine maintenance must be performed throughout the season. This includes spreading calcium, rolling the courts, court repairs, irrigation, and weed control. Members must be understanding of these and other maintenance procedures.
USE OF WET COURTS
Please use your common sense when using the courts after a rain. Do not use the courts if they are visibly wet, if there are puddles, or if you leave footprints due to their softness. If you play when the courts are too wet, it can seriously damage the courts, and risk injury to the players.
RULES OF TENNIS ETIQUETTE
GOING TO AND FROM THE COURTS-Wait until play has ceased before going across or behind the court-then please hurry.
RETURNING BALL TO PROPER COURT- Wait until there is a pause in play before returning a ball to its appropriate court. Roll the ball to the rear of the court or directly to the player.
CALLING FOR RETURN OF YOUR BALL-Wait for a pause in play before calling for your ball.
UNNECESSARY NOISE-Loud or excessive talking must be kept to a minimum. Yelling must be avoided. It is rude and inconsiderate to disturb other players while on or off the court.
Any infraction of these policies, rules and procedures may result
in the suspension of membership privileges.
Members wishing to speak to a Board member concerning a tennis matter may leave a message by calling the Library. A Board member will return your message as soon as possible.
