Services Computer Room Policy
All computer room users must have a Parent Permission Form on file.
All computer room users must have their Identification with them at the time
of their appointment. Identification may consist of the following:
a Long Beach Library Card, a Long Beach Library Computer Card, a Long Beach School
District Id Card, or a Long Beach School District Bus Pass. Children/Teens
without identification must be accompanied by an adult in order to use the computers. All
computer users must sign in at the Youth Services Reference Desk when you arrive
for your appointment. Your appointment is for 1 hour. Computer reservations
will be held for no more than 15 minutes from the start of your time slot. Staff
does not provide instruction. The Library will supply you with 10
sheets of paper. You may bring additional paper as long as it is clean and not
crumpled. Extra paper may be purchased for 10 cents a sheet. Labels or other "specialty"
paper may not be used in the library printers. The computer room
closes 1/2 hour prior to the building closing time. Computers
are available: Mon/Wed/Thur-9:30am to 8:30pm Tuesday-11:30am-8:30pm
Friday-9:30am-5:30pm Saturday-9:30am-4:30pm Sunday-1:30pm-4:30pm (mid-Sept
thru mid-June) Librarians may at their discretion terminate
or cancel any appointment due to lack of staff, heavy use of the Youth Secvices
Department or other unforeseen conditions. Game users
may be limited to 2 games due to heavy use of the department/ computer room or
at the Librarian's discretion. If a computer user finds
themself in an inappropiate site, they must exit that site immediately or seek
help from a library staff member.Computer users found to be in inappropiate sites
will have their access immediately revoked. The parent/guardian on file will be
contacted immediately. Computer users who access areas
of the computer desk top other than games, word processors, or the Internet will
be denied further use of the computers for that day. NO
food or beverages are allowed in the computer room. In
accordance with the Library's Patron Policy, those who do not obey the rules of
the library may lose Library Privileges.
