giveaway program cosponsored by the Youth Services Department of the Long Beach
Public Library and the Nassau Library System. Children born to residents of the
Long Beach School District will receive a canvas tote-bag bearing our bright red
"Born to Read" logo. Inside the bag children will discover a plush animal-shaped
rattle and a board book with text in English and Spanish. Parents will find a
variety of pamphlets which serve as an introduction to the Library (especially
the Youth Department!) and encourage the development of family literacy for the
young child. Parents may pick up a "Born to Read Coupon" at any library
branch. To redeem, bring the coupon, your proof of residency; and a copy of your
child's birth certificate to the main library's Youth Services Department. Tote-bags
