The Music of Jerome Kern

Songwriter Jerome Kern revolutionized the American musical theater with his flowing melodies and character-driven songs.

The Paul Joseph Quartet will perform some of Kern’s best-known standards and beloved melodies, including songs from Show Boat, Roberta, Very Good Eddie and others.

Defensive Driving

 

For all ages

 

Registration is required. The fee is $40 per person, due at the time of registration. Payment by check only , made out to Driving Defensively . You must attend both classes to receive the certificate. Class size is limited. Residents of the Lynbrook Library service area may register starting Monday, November 16. Non-residents may register starting Monday, November 30.

Do You Knit?      Knitting

Do you crochet?    Crocheting    

Yarn and fabric crafters are invited to take part in Stitches from the Heart. Spend a pleasant evening knitting, crocheting, or quilting hats, lap robes, blankets, and other items for newborns, children in need and veterans in our VA hospitals. In just its first five years, this non-profit organization donated more than 418,000 handmade items to over 600 hospitals, charities, and community centers nationwide.

If you can’t knit, crochet or quilt, donations of yarn and fabric will be happily accepted.


Knitters,crochet crafters and quilters of all skill levels welcome. Bring a project with you or embark on something new. Patterns will be provided.

Students, take note! Earn Community Service Credits!

English Conversation Circle for
Speakers of Other Languages

 

Círculo de Conversación de inglés para los de habla espaňola

Sponsored by Literacy Nassau

If you have some knowledge of English, and would like to improve your conversation skills, our Conversation Circle is for you! It’s a wonderful way for speakers of other languages to become more comfortable with speaking and understanding everyday English.

A trained tutor will lead the discussions, and you will have plenty of chances to talk with others.

Now you can contact a Nassau County librarian after hours via the nternet. Just go to the Lynbrook Library website, www.nassaulibrary.org/lynbrook, and click on the "Live Librarian" logo in the lower left hand corner. You'll be connected to a real live person who will try to answer your query using the latest information databases available. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
