CHILDREN'S ROOM SERVICES AND PROGRAMS

An active center for children and parents. Program schedule includes story hours, reading clubs, films, crafts, creative writing, holiday and vacation programs.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
All programs are held in the Children's Room unless otherwise noted. Siblings not meeting
class age requirements will not be allowed to attend, unless otherwise noted.
Registration
 may be by phone, e-mail, fax, or in person in the Children's Room. Please include child's    
name, address, phone, age, date of birth, grade, and the barcode number from the back   
of a family library card when registering.                                                                                         


 SPRING STORYCRAFT
Monday, April 13, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Grades 1 - 3
Youngsters will hear springtime stories and enjoy a fun seasonal craft project. This is a drop-off class.        
Registration began Wednesday, April 1 at 9 a.m.

REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS OF LONG ISLAND
Tuesday, April 14, 2;30 - 4 p.m.
Grades 1-2: 11 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
 Grades 3-6: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.     
 
Join Jungle Bob Smith as he introduces us to live animals in his show, "Reptiles and Amphibians of Long Island". Among the       animals he will bring are local turtles, snakes, frogs, and toads. He will also talk about the invasive Wall Lizard. (After the show he releases the animals back into the wild.)                                                                                                  
Registration begins Wednesday, April 1 at 9 a.m.
 

FAMILY MOVIE MATINEE
Wednesday, April 15: BOLT [PG]
2 - 4 p.m.
Ages 4 and up (with caregiver) in the Community Room
   Join us for a fun family flick and enjoy a snack. Free raffle for movie-themed
  gift pack. Please bring a blanket or pillows for comfy floor seating. Snacks 
            and beverages will be provided by the Library (please, no outside food or drink). 
       This is not a drop-off program. All children must be accompanied by an adult.  

    Registration begins Wednesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. by phone, e-mail    
       or in person in the Children's Room.
                                               
              

SPRING CRAFT
Thursday, April 16, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Ages 3 and up
Children (with caregiver) will be able to drop in at their  convenience during the day and make a simple, self-guided holiday art project.   
No registration necessary.

GIZMO GUYS
Thursday, April 16, 11 - 11;45 a.m.
Grades K - 6. Held in the community Room

Allan Jacobs and Barrett Felker will amaze and amuse you with their juggling and rapid-fire act.
            Registration begins Wednesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. 
         

MOMMY & ME
Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21, 28
18 months - 5 years: 11:00 a.m. - 12 noon
18 months - 5 years: 1 - 2 p.m.

Youngsters (with caregiver) will enjoy crafts, movement activities, and songs in this interactive and fun class, Children may enroll for one session only. No siblings not meeting class age requirements. May not be taken simultaneously with Jammin' Jitterbugs.                                                   
Registration begins Monday, April 20 at 9 a.m.

JAMMIN' JITTERBUGS  
Fridays, May 8, 15, 22, 29, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Ages 2 - 5 (with caregiver)

Miss Holli and Mr. Tommy lead little ones, as they shake, rattle and roll at their very own weekly music class. May not be  taken simultaneously with Mommy & Me.

MOTHER'S DAY CRAFT

FATHER'S DAY CRAFT

Ages 3 and up

Children (with caregiver) will be able to drop in at their convenience
 during the day and make a simple, self-guided seasonal art project.

                             SUMMER STORYTIMES    
All storytimes take place in the Children's Room. Registration Lottery Information: Lottery entries will be accepted only from Monday, June 8 through Saturday, June 20. Any entries received before Monday, June 8 will be disqualified. One           
entry per child. Siblings registering for the same program need only submit one entry. Entries must include child's name,        
address, phone number, date of birth, grade (if applicable), and the barcode number from a family library card. Entrants will  be phoned with lottery results on either Monday, June 22 or Tuesday June 23. Lottery entries may be submitted in person, by phone, fax or e-mail.

Ages 6 months - 2 1/2 years (with caregiver)

Ages 20 - 30 months (with caregiver)

Youngsters and caregivers will enjoy stories and more as they are introduced to a more structured storytime.
Children must be accompanied by a caregiver and have turned 20-months-old by July 8. No siblings, please.

   The sudoku crase hits Manhasset! Join us for an exciting puzzle competition, all skill levels welcome? Great prizes for winners! All children must have a working knowledge of Sudoku; no instruction will be given.

SECOND ANNUAL TWANG!/TEENZONE IRON CHEF

Professional chef Ms. Lee Perotta will help you run your own cooking competition based on the Food Network's hit TV show. Participants will take turns hosting and cooking and then enjoying the results.
