We provide access to many online databases, including magazine and newspaper articles,encyclopedias, directories, biographies, and literary criticism. These databases are terrific resources to research that term paper or project. They can all be accessed using your Massapequa Public Library card.


AccessScience - The online Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, is the first place to go on the Internet to start your research into science & technology subjects. AccessScience provides you with the up-to-date information you need - quickly and reliably.

bigchalk Library - the ultimate K-12 reference resource -- features more than 1,500 magazines, newspapers, reference works, transcripts, maps, images, Web links and audio and video sources.

CountryWatch - CountryWatch.com is an information provider for schools, universities, libraries and individuals who need up-to-date information and news on the countries of the world and for public and private sector organizations with global operations and interests.

The source for in-depth analysis of contemporary issues. The CQ Researcher explores a single "hot" issue in the news in depth each week. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology. Reports date back to 1991. 

InfoTrac Junior - this periodical database is designed for students in junior high and middle school, with magazines, newspapers and reference books or information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

MagillOnAuthors - This database is a comprehensive reference resource comprised of information on over 1,500 notable authors. MagillOnAuthors offers approximately 3,000 articles and over 450 images and covers long and short fiction writers, poets, dramatists and philosophers.

MagillOnLiterature - This database is the definitive, online source for editorially reviewed critical analyses. This database also includes brief plot summaries of the most studied works in the history of literature. MagillOnLiterature contains all of Masterplots and Masterplots II, Cyclopedia of World Authors, Cyclopedia of Literary Characters, Magill's Literary Annual, Magill's Guide to Science Fiction and Fantasy as well as World Philosophers and Their Works.

Novelist K-8 - NoveList K-8 is your starting place for learning about the books that you will want to read! Users can also browse hundreds of theme-oriented book lists for readers at all grade levels through Explore Fiction, and look for award-winning and recommended titles in Best Fiction.

Opposing Viewpoints Resorce Center - The premier database covering social issues, such as Gun Control, Genetic Engineering, Censorship, Endangered Species, and Terrorism. It provides a complete one-stop source for information on social issues.

Searchasaurus - Two popular elementary and middle school databases (Primary Search and Middle Search Plus) can be accessed via Searchasaurus. Searchasaurus is an exciting and easy way for young researchers to experience online searching.

TOPICsearch - This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political & economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today’s classrooms.
