Great Sites for Young Adults

  • Teen Reading: www.ala.org/yalsa/booklists  -- run by the American Library Association's Young Adult Services Division.
  • Reading Rants: tln.lib.mi.us/~amutch/jen -- a bunch of reading lists for those teens who want something a little different.  Read biographies of ordinary people who became extraordinary by not giving up, stories of kick-butt heroines who made a difference, short stories, best reads for boys, sci-fi/fantasy and a list of the author's top ten books of all time.
  • Favorite Teenage Angst Books: www.grouchy.com/angstbooks.html  -- Think you have problems?  Read on and learn that you're not alone.  This site has books new and old in 11 different categories spanning the gamut from pressure, trouble, sex and love, fitting in, to being "out of bounds" with virtual reality and cyberspace.
  • Yahoo Young Adult Authors: Yahoo--Literature--Authors--Young Adult -- Here you can go to sites about your favorite authors and even find out about upcoming on-line author chats.  There's Judy Blume, Caroline Cooney, S.E. Hinton, Walter Dean Myers and others, including the new young sensation Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.  While you're scanning through the Young Adult Authors menu, you might want to check out other categories also.
  • Internet Public Library Teen Division: www.ipl.org/teen -- a Virtual Library with sites compiled by librarians and graduate students in the School of Information and Library Studies at the University of Michigan.  There are librarians available by e-mail to answer questions that can't be ascertained using the myriad of reference sources in all different fields.  The teen division contains fun and useful sites on entertainment, careers, clubs and organizations to join, fashion, sports, term paper guides, and much, much more.
  • TeenHealth: www.teenhealth.org -- TeensHealth was created for teens looking for honest, accurate information and advice about health, relationships, and growing up.
  • TeenHealthFX: www.teenhealthfx.com -- TeenHealthFX.com is your online resource for any and all questions regarding your health, your relationships, your body and your sexuality. While this site is informative, it's not a substitute for talking to your doctor and your parents.
