Sculptures by Arthur Amster of
Shelter Island and Scarsdale
Arthur Amster is an award-winning sculptor whose career and exhibit span a period of almost 60 years. There are 45 different art works in a wide variety of media - newspaper, cork, alabaster, agate, basalt, and more. Amster carved Roots of Man from a Hemlock tree he planted. Endangered Species employs 1600 wine corks and emphasizes that there aren’t enough corks for all the wine produced world-wide. Amster found a granite stone at the home of a fellow sculptor where he does his welding and created karma, a head with an “oriental mystique.” Allied Artists of Americaselected Ahoy, a sculpture of steel anchors and alabaster, for their upcoming annual exhibition.
