In northern Australia before World War II, an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) who inherits a sprawling ranch teams with a stockman (Hugh Jackman) in order to protect her property from a takeover plot.  As the pair drives 2000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscape, they experience firsthand the bombing of Darwin, Australia by the Japanese forces.
