Information and Referral (I&R)

I&R is a human service system that is available free of charge designed to link an inquirer with needed information. Usually this takes place using an organized system of resource information, advice and referrals to resources.

Senior Connections I&R
SENIOR CONNECTIONS I&R service in the library provides current, accurate information to inquirers about issues affecting older adults such as Retirement, Social Security, Medicare /Medicaid /Medigap Insurance, Legal services, Housing, Medical options, Transportation, Medications, Employment, Recreation, etc. The process of referral includes discussing an individual or family's needs and linking them to appropriate assistance and resources. The volunteer assists inquirers in contacting agencies in the community as well as follow-up contact. Often, this takes numerous phone calls and lots of patience. Our volunteers know that inquirerers are frequently in crisis situations. They become friends and advocates for those they are helping. Senior Connections service is provided by dedicated, caring, volunteers and library Coordinators.
