Long Island Talking Book Library
A free library service supported by the two
public library systems of Long Island,
the Nassau Library System and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System,
the Long Island Talking Book Library provides eligible residents
with recorded books and magazines and the special equipment required to play
them.
The program serves those who have difficulty seeing or handling
traditional print materials. The LITBL, a regional unit of
the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped,
has a collection of over 95,000 books covering all interests -
bestsellers, biographies, how-to, travel, current events,
children's books, books for young adults.
Materials are sent to borrowers at home and returned by postage-free mail.
