The Syosset Public Library Local History Collection is located in the new Local History Room in the lower level of the library. The Collection includes newspapers, books, maps and memorabilia, as well as many rare and unique photographs. The Local History Room has been furnished with a worktable, comfortable seating, and adequate shelving and storage space to provide easy access and long term preservation of these valuable materials. The Library would like to continue to expand this collection and invites the public to join in the effort to preserve the history of our community. If you, or an organization to which you belong, are in possession of documents, memorabilia, artifacts, photographs, etc., relating to the history of Syosset and the surrounding communities and you would like to find a home for those materials, please contact the Library. The Local History Collection is currently accessible by appointment only. Please contact Barney Levantino in the Syosset Library Reference Department (516-921-7161 ext 238) for more information.
