2009 Teen Summer Reading Club

Sign-up begins 6/29/09
Participants must be in grades 7-12 as of September 2009. Register in person or online:
nassaulibrary.org/lakeview/YoungAdult
Receive a complete packet of summer reading materials including a sign-up prize (while supplies last).

How do I participate?
Read any book on your reading level. Fill out a mini-review and return it to the library. Reviews are also available on our website. Reviews may be returned between Monday, July 6th and Friday, August 21st. Return reviews to the box in the Young Adult department.
Win prizes for every two completed reviews. Prizes may be picked up on Fridays at the Young Adult reference desk. All readers who hand in at least 6 reviews by 8/21/09 will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible for a special prize drawing.

Babysitting/FirstAid Workshop

Monday, July 6th, 2009 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
Prepare for babysitting and childcare jobs. Learn the basics such as; diapering, first aid and how to ask the right questions of parents.
Taught by Registered Nurses Jo Ann Tanck and Georgette Basso.
Bring a doll or stuffed animal for practice. A certificate of completion will be awarded.
Registration is extended through 7/6/09.

Scrapbook/Altered Book Craft

"This I Believe"

Monday, July 13, 2009 6:00pm - 7:30pm

What is your story? What experiences have shaped your life? What are your core values? Join Vera Miles for a respectful and exciting discussion . Those who chose to may submit an essay to the This I Believe, Inc. project (more information will be available on the evening of the program). Refreshments will be served.

Lazy Letters Teen Craft

Journaling Workshop

Monday, August 3rd ~ 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm.

A journal is the perfect place to get your creative juices flowing. You'll decorate your journal and then participate in a writing / drawing exercise. Journals are very personal, so please bring a notebook with you - one with a blank cover is best.

Endangered Species

Learn about extinct, endangered and protected wildlife. See rare and unique confiscated pelts, teeth and more. Presented by the Center for Science Teaching and Learning.
