Autumn Happenings

Well we've had a wonderful summer. Thank you to all who participated in our Summer Reading Club, Metamorphosis@yourlibrary. Please, come in and pick up your prizes if you completed reviews.

Teen Yoga

School have you stressed out? Relax in our yoga classes. Meeting every Thursday, September 18 through October 30 from 4pm - 5pm. Wear comfortable clothing (sweats not jeans) and bring a towel.

New for Fall

Yoga is now on Wednesdays at 4:30, beginning Nov. 5th and continuing through Dec. 17th.

Malibu Tile: ceramic Retro-Surf Jewelery for guys and gals. Nov. 10th, Monday at 6pm.

Family Game Night: Teens bring your parents and siblings and challenge them to some board games.

December Events

Cartoon Drawing Workshop: December 6th, Saturday, 1:30-3:00. Join David O. Miller and learn to draw some favorite characters.

Dirt Cake: December 20th, Saturday, 2:00. Make a delicious cake.

DIY(A): December 22nd, Monday, 6:00. Create something for the holidays to keep or give away.

Kwanzaa Celebration: Celebrate the Seven Principles. Beginning December 26th. Please, ask at library for times. This event is open to all.

Registration is required for all programs. Teen programs are open to patrons in grades 7-12.

CONTEST ~ What the Dream Means to Me~

What the dream means to me.

With the inauguration of our first African-American President what do Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic words, “I have a dream” mean to you?

This contest is open to students in grades K-12. It will begin on January 15th and entries must be received by February 23rd.

K-2 - Draw a picture.
3-12 - Poster or essay.

Landing the Job You Want

Part I -- Tuesday, June 9, 2009 ~ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Part II -- Tuesday, June 16, 2009 ~ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This program offered by our Adult department is open to teens in high school.

Part I: Learn how to conduct a multi-faceted job search. Learn resume and cover letter writing tips.

Part II: Prepare for an interview. Learn how to do research, how to present yourself, and what questions you may be asked.

2009 Teen Summer Reading Club

Sign-up begins 6/29/09
Participants must be in grades 7-12 as of September 2009. Register in person or online:

Receive a complete packet of summer reading materials including a sign-up prize (while supplies last).

How do I participate?
Read any book on your reading level. Fill out a mini-review and return it to the library. Reviews are also available on our website. Reviews may be returned between Monday, July 6th and Friday, August 21st. Return reviews to the box in the Young Adult department.
Win prizes for every two completed reviews. Prizes may be picked up on Fridays at the Young Adult reference desk. All readers who hand in at least 6 reviews by 8/21/09 will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible for a special prize drawing.

Babysitting/FirstAid Workshop

Monday, July 6th, 2009 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
Prepare for babysitting and childcare jobs. Learn the basics such as; diapering, first aid and how to ask the right questions of parents.
Taught by Registered Nurses Jo Ann Tanck and Georgette Basso.
Bring a doll or stuffed animal for practice. A certificate of completion will be awarded.
